Shelly and Jacob adopted Punkin shortly after Halloween.  She has been renamed Turnip, as turnips were the first vegetables carved as Jack 'O Lanterns.   

Shelly writes, "I do think we chose the right dog because Turnip is settling in quite easily with all the family (humans, dog, rat, and chickens!)

She's very sweet and very funny. She's kind of stubborn so we're going to have to get her into training. We're working on sitting on command and she's doing really well with that so far.

She's kicked Unagi off of the couch so we may need to work on sharing but we're making sure they get equal love time. They're already running together to the front door when they hear someone on the porch. It looks quite funny because of the difference in size.

To mix a few metaphors, Turnip already has Jacob in the palm of her tiny paw (or would that be wrapped around her paw, or eating out of her paw?) However you say it, she has him completely charmed with her sense of humor and her little Ewok face.
