Daisy

Our Sheltie/Corgi mix, Daisy was adopted by Jeff and Susan.

Susan wrote to tell us, "Daisy is doing GREAT!!!! I am afraid that she is very spoiled, and rules the home! We both dote on her! She has experienced playing in snow since the last time we wrote to you, and she LOVES IT! I find it very funny that she can not stand to go out in the rain, and licks her feet so carefully afterwards, but will play in the snow for hours!

It is now summer time though, and I am thinking of taking her for a hair cut, so she doesn’t suffer too much as the weather heats up in the next couple of months! She still goes to work sites with me and sleeps in the bed when my husband is out of town. When he’s home she prefers to sleep on her micro-foam mattress in our walk in closet; with her back to the wall so she can keep an eye out for each of HER cats (we have four of them).

One of the cats, Nigel, sleeps leaning on her part of the time; which she has grown to at least tolerate. She ‘grooms’ him or occasionally one of the other cats. The only one who gives her any trouble is “Sketch’, who is a 14 -15 y/o cat that was rescued by my husband when Sketch was about two years old. Sketch has to hiss at Daisy every now and then to keep her in line and remind her that he is in charge! She never argues with him on that point, and steers clear of him in general. Overall, even Sketch has grown so tolerant of Daisy that he just jumps out of the way when she comes charging into the kitchen every morning and every evening; which happens to be medication time for Sketch, but “treat” time for everyone (all the four legged everyones, anyway)!

She gets “breathe busters”, or “greenies” for her treats, and looks forward to these times with excitement! She has been on LOTS of long hikes in my neighborhood, as well as at multiple local parks that allow dogs on the trails! She starts out tugging, and ends up pretty mellow by the time we walk off some of that hyperactivity of hers!"
