"We just finished our first week with ChiChi, our third “kid”
from PUP. He’s starting to show his character and stake his place in
our family and is affectionate, funny, and lively!
He and
Fifi, our first PUP kid, also a
long-coat Chihuahua, are starting to act like they like each
other which is good because eventually they’ll have to ride on
the motorcycle with “Dad” together! For now, we’ll let them
get used to sharing morning coffee time, the QUEEN SIZE bed
that Fifi thinks she owns, and Ronnie-Sue’s pillow, which
ChiChi thinks he owns.
Our second PUP adoptee,
Isabelle, is a
great spaniel-mix family dog and amuses us daily with her
indiscriminately wagging tail and shameless attempts at
begging. She’s practiced the soulful eyes technique in her
almost-perfect sitting pose, but the constant wagging of her
tail and body ruins the “don’t you feel sorry for me” look and
makes us laugh. She loves going for walks so much that she’ll
balance standing on her back feet (not allowed to jump ON us)
to reach the leash as we take it off the hook by the door; she
can balance for almost 30 seconds at a time!
One thing we like about adopting through PUP is that we know
the character of the dogs before we adopt. We can trust
they’ve had a good medical checkup and that if they have
challenges, the fosters and Laura will make sure that we know
as much of their story as possible before we make any
decisions.
But the best thing is the new friends we’ve made
and the lovely dogs we’ve been able to offer our home and
hearts to.
Thanks, PUP
volunteers!"
