My husband, Greg, and I had a dozen reasons why we should not be fostering -- we don’t have a yard, we both work, we had new furniture, and so on. I really wanted a dog though, so I promised my husband that fostering would be on a trial basis. Then we met our first dog and all our “reasons” no longer mattered. We fell in love with our first foster and haven’t looked back yet. Getting a new foster dog is something we always look forward to, even though it’s tough to lose the current one when he's adopted. We also found one that we simply couldn’t say good-bye to and adopted Dottie, our best friend.
Being a part of PUP has been an amazing experience. Not only do I feel rewarded because I am giving back to the community, I have also met the most wonderful, caring, generous people -- both PUP members and adopters. Fostering has been fun, educational, heart-tugging….and at times challenging. I can’t imagine giving it up.
